Some of you probably know that for a while I have been romancing the idea of a new bike. I believe that I am coming closer to a decision. If any of you have input on the color choice, fill in the poll. Ok, here are my options:

Finally!
I’ve finally convinced the filter to be my friend, so here are the belated pictures from Spokane.
Spokane
Last weekend, my family + Grandma went to Spokane to visit some friends of the Brubaker clan. The Coblentzes are so nice, and (even though my room reeked of cats) I had fun there. Mrs. Coblentz was her very hospitable and sweet self, and Mr. Coblentz is a dear old fellow who never fails to plant a whiskery kiss on my cheek. (to ease all your minds I don’t go around letting just anyone do that) The weather was wet, wet, wet. We rode the carousel, ate way too much fried food, and I got my first Starbuck’s coffee! I also went to the Spokane mall for the first time. General feeling: “wow!” “yikes!” “materialism!” I drooled at Williams-Sonoma, tried fragrant hand lotions, and basically ogled at the bizarre lifestyle of city folks. I’m glad I live in a little town. It suits me. On our way home, we saw a flock of approx 40 bighorn sheep, two of which were battering each other’s heads. That was fun. I would post pix, but my filter is having major trust issues right now, so that will have to wait.
Soooo Cliche
I will say right off the bat that I don’t expect there to be world peace, or “everyone loving each other,” or anything like that. What I am saying here is the great need for Christians to get their eyes off the temporal divisions and see our “enemies” for what they really are: our mission field. It’s way easier to neatly compartmentalize people as immoral reprobates than to actually get on their level and reach them for good. So, I guess my main point is perhaps an adopted cliche from – uh- the left. Let’s try peace, and instead of being inflammatory, we can try to do what good we can with love that transcends party lines.

Because you all love me
Ok, I know was at least a little bit missed. Or maybe that’s wishful thinking. Anyway, I’m back now, so your lives may resume. With regard to the current political hoo-ha, I will be posting my view shortly. Of course, as some folks would all-too-cheerfully add, I do everything shortly. No wonder some of my TV heros include Robin Williams & Yoda.
Yesterday
We went up to Crane Mountain yesterday, and I was able to get some nice pictures. It’s so pretty up there this time of year.
Relational Issues
Joe and I have an interesting (and sometimes abusive) relationship, as described above.
You may have noticed that my little character has shorter hair. So do I. After much debate and flip-flopping, I finally had Mrs. Underhill cut it for me. I’ll post pics whenever I get motivated enough. It is about shoulder-length now, and I love how bouncy and alive it feels!
The Live Experience
Last week, we got Keith Green’s live performance album. Now we’ve been on a major Greenathon. The live recordings and animated preaching is like nothing I’ve ever seen or heard before. 26 years after his death, Keith’s music is still impacting a lot of people. Go to the LDM site for info on other recordings, and to read some excellent articles by Keith and Melody.

Trashy-Craft Revisited
Welcome to all dear souls interested in the refined and distinctive art of trash picking. It is not to be confused with dumpster-diving, pack-ratting, squirreling away, or junk collecting. No, no, this is frugal culture at it’s finest. My current project: transforming three empty wine bottles into corrals for my ever-on-the-lam knitting needles. With some TLC, paint, and a custom sweater, maybe I can turn them into something cute and functional. If not, I can just return them. Here’s what I’ve done so far.
The Tunnel of Doom
Well, I guess school isn’t that bad. Here I am at the end of summer, wondering “where did it go?” Maybe a quick overview is in order.
In June, we went to CA.
In July, the Mallerys threw a great party, and we went camping.
In August, the Takahashis came to visit, and shameful as it is, this is basically the only picture I got.
So, this has been a pretty good summer overall. I think I’ll be ready to kiss the motorhomes goodbye, brush up my vocal chords, and find a cozy ball of yarn to keep me company in the coming fall. Oh, and I’ll start school again.
